Biography

Jeroen Truyen is a Dutch drummer whose work spans jazz, pop, soul and funk. Groove, sound and musical interplay are central to his playing. He combines a feel for the rhythmic foundation with an openness to improvisation and spontaneous musical moments.

He studied jazz drums at the Conservatorium Maastricht and subsequently at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York. He received the European Jazz Award and was a finalist in Lee Ritenour’s Six String Competition.

As a drummer, he has contributed to recordings with musicians including Kike Perdomo, Julius Rodriguez and Billy Test. Alongside his work with various bands and ensembles, he regularly plays in musical, theatre and orchestral productions.
